HISTORY CAMP IS FULL!
History Camp 2015 “Wormholes to History” A wormhole is a hypothetical topological feature
that would fundamentally be a shortcut through spacetime. Join the museum staff for 5 days of time travel as we hop through history and zoom through wormholes in our very
own time machine. We’ll be making stops in
Imperial China, Ancient Egypt, the funky decade of the 1970s, Medieval Times, and of course…making a trip to the FUTURE!

A Visit
to Jackson & Coker
Harold Jarrett, Crawford Long
Museum Association board member and Vicki Starnes, Museum Manager made a visit to Jackson & Coker
in Alpharetta on Thursday, April 17th to accept a benefactor
level donation to the Association and present their executives with a membership plaque. Jackson & Coker, a leading
temporary and permanent placement physician employment firm partnered with the museum in March to help celebrate Doctor’s
Day with delivery of red carnations to doctors in the Jefferson area with plans to expand this effort next year.

Thursday, April 18, 2013 SUPPER and SUBSTANCE This program was held at the museum after
hours from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. A large group enjoyed a night at the museum, that featured Susan Russell, certified City Arborist who entertained and enlightened
attendees about WICKED WEEDS, DREADFUL DISEASES AND BOTHERSOME BUGS.

The first annual Historic Haints & Saints Cemetery Tour
was sponsored by the Crawford Long Museum Association and the Georgia Humanities Council. The haunted night began at the museum,
where a guide lead a tour by the light of the moon to meet historic ghosts of Jefferson's past.Everyone learned about history, haunts, legends and restless Confederate and Revolutionary
War soldiers in the Woodbine Cemetery. Folklore came alive on Friday, October 26th and Saturday, October 27th.

Arriving in a horse-drawn carriage, they were available for visits and photographs with visitors.

Spike Sniffs Out Trouble Jefferson K-9 officer, Jay Parker, congratulates Spike, his canine partner
after a demonstration where the dog found marijuana hidden by police officers. Spike is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois, whose assistance lead to seizure of $71,000 in drug money.

In recognition of Historic Preservation month, Susan Chaisson of Shields-Ethridge Farm told the
story of finding the box in the attic that began her journey of preserving her family's past.

"September to Remember" The September Lunch &
Learn featured local author and Jefferson native Harry Bryan who reminisced about the way it was growing up in small-town
Jefferson, Georgia. This event included a book signing of his book "Growing Pains and Gains".

The Crawford W. Long
Museum Wall of Honor honors the many individuals who gave generously of time and money to create a museum to
honor the life and work of Crawford W. Long, M.D. From those who gave monies to purchase the museum from the State of Georgia
in 1957 to those who volunteered countless hours to staff the facility or to head fund-raising campaigns, all are remembered
as a significant part of this instituion.
The Tom Bryan Family Relatives of major contributors to the Crawford Long Museum were recognized at
the reception and unveiling of the museum's Wall of Honor on January 9, 2011. Plaques are now included at the museum with
names of over 600 peple who helped develop the museum over 50 years ago.

Long Jefferson resident, Henry "Doc" Johnson portrays the role of Dr. Crawford Long at a launch
party for the Appalachian Regional Commission's new map "Civil War: The Home Front" which was held May 5, 2011 at
the Gordon Lee Mansion in Chickamauga, Georgia. The Crawford Long Museum was one of the 150 historic sites included on the
13 state map.

Civil War Medicine Exhibit Amputation
re-enactments were featured at the museum as part of the Civil War Medicine exhibit special opening on April 15, 2011. RN,
Valerie Cox, Society of Civil War Surgeons, spoke on the history of medical and surgical procedures during the Civil War.
A crowd gathered around as she demonstrated amputations that were common during the war. An exhibit of Civil War Medicine
opened in October 2011. Val Cox performed an amputation re-enactment. Val is shown answering questions after her presentation.
